Yelp Employee Resource Groups (YERGs)
We cultivate our diverse interests through Yelp Employee Resource Groups (YERGs). All employees are welcome to all groups! YERGs are voluntary, employee-led communities that serve as a resource for employees with shared social identities, characteristics or life experiences (for example, protected classes such as race, sex, disability, etc.), as well as their allies.
Awesome Women in EngineeringAWE's mission is to build a strong community for women in engineering, related teams, and their allies at Yelp by facilitating professional career building activities, networking, leadership, and mentorship opportunities.
VetConnect This is a Yelp Employee Resource Group for prior/current military, as well as family members and allies.

Diversity at Yelp
At Yelp, as we transition to a remote-first, distributed workforce, the intentionality behind inclusion poses new opportunities to pull additional levers to improve access and equity. We are proud of our growth but understand there is more work ahead.
Native American grouping includes Native Americans, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islanders (per U.S. EEO-1 reporting requirements). Underrepresented Minority (URM) grouping includes Black, Latinx, and Native American employees. Yelp’s URM definition is the UCSF definition at the granularity of race and ethnicity data available to us. All figures reflect Yelp diversity from September 8, 2020 through August 31, 2021.

From our national celebration titles (Latinx Heritage Month) to how we address colleagues in our virtual meetings (y’all, folks, everybody, etc.), the language we use is crucial in defining an inclusive environment at Yelp. We continue to explore new vocabulary, have necessary conversations, and push the envelope on what’s considered the norm.
